National YMCA Healthy Kids Day is Saturday, April 21st, 2018!

At the Y, we believe kids can do anything with the right support.  That’s why we are committed to helping kids get on (and stay on!) a healthy youth development journey that includes physical, cognitive, and social-emotional growth.  From achieving goals, to making friends, and developing strong character, the Y supports youth from cradle to career.

We know that kids gain weight faster during the summer months and that youth from low income neighborhoods are disproportionately affected by summer learning loss due to limited or no access to reading materials outside of school.

Healthy Kids Day is our annual, nationwide initiative designed to inspire all youth, parents, and caregivers-regardless of membership status-to get active and make healthy choices over the summer and beyond.

Healthy Kids Day is our largest single-day event celebrating youth development across the United States.

The Arcadia and Westerly-Pawcatuck Branches are celebrating Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 21st from Noon to 2:00 pm.  Make it a Family Day with family swim, Fire Truck and Police Car Tours, Car Seat Checks, Arts & Crafts, parachute activities, lawn games, snacks and so much more!

This event is FREE and OPEN to All!

Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program

The Arcadia Y together with the Arthritis Foundation and the Rhode Island Department of Health Arthritis Action Program is proud to offer the PACE Program (People With Arthritis Can Exercise). The Arthritis Foundation specifically designed PACE for people with arthritis. This fun interactive program utilizes general recreational exercises and Personal Training activities to promote joint range of motion, flexibility, muscle strength and coordination. The program is structured to accommodate varying fitness levels.  Adults with arthritis who can walk (use of assisted devices permitted), or move from a wheel chair to a straight back chair, are able to participate in these programs. Instructors are certified to teach the PACE program by the Arthritis Foundation and are CPR certified. As with any program, check with your physician before you begin.

To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
