Wellness Wednesdays FREE Lecture Series

Wednesday, April 5th starts our first FREE lecture in a series of FREE Lectures that will be offered on Wednesdays.  This first lecture is Weight Loss 101 given by Kaitlin Bennett, RD, CDN.  Kaitlin is a certified Registered Dietitian, member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and recieved her Master’s Degree from the College of Saint Elizabeth.  She currently works as a Registered Dietitian for Five Star Supermarkets Shop Rite.  Weight loss is about a change in lifestyle that reaches beyond a magic pill or fad.  Bring your questions to Kaitlin!

New! Intro to Acting!

Ages 18+

Thursdays 6:00 – 7:30 PM

This class will offer any individual 18 years and older the opportunity to explore elements of acting such as scene study, monologue work, and auditioning skills.  This class will be a fun, stress free environment in which you will have the ability to learn and grow as an actor.  Andrew Medeiros, a professionally trained actor, with experience in commercials, independent films and theatre productions, will instruct this program.

New! Improv 101!

Ages 10-17

Tuesdays & Thursdays 4:00-5:00 PM

This is an acting class for young students that want to learn the basics of acting.  From improvisation, to monologues, to scene study, to how to audition; this class will offer a fun, safe, learning environment for young students wanting to become actors.  Students will get training from Andrew Medeiros, a professional actor, who has years of training in theatre, film and commercial productions.  Register today!

New! Homework Club!

Ages 7-18

Why not try something new this Spring?  We will meet in the Community Room at the Westerly Branch for snacks and a quiet location for students to complete their homework.  Students will have the support of Y Staff and Volunteers, and will be able to review homework and read with their peers.  Prizes will be given to those who show improvement on their report cards or are in good standing.  Space is limited so don’t wait to register for this new program! Parents are welcome and encouraged to drop-off and work out while their kids do their homework!

Pre-Ballet for Ages 4-6

The goals of this general “pre-ballet” class are to foster creativity, freedom, and expression through movement and movement creating a life-long love of dance.  We will explore movement with wonder and joy, discovering the magic of dance, while gaining confidence and poise every step of the way.

Study basic classical ballet positions of the feet and arms and fundamental movements at the barre and then in the center.  In the center, work on more complex movements, jumps and turns as students progress at their own pace.  No previous ballet experience necessary.

Adult Beginner Ballet

In this class, study basic ballet in its very basic form, moving through the fundamentals: barre, center, corner, and simple stretching.  Through ballet technique, lengthen and tone while developing balance, strength and grace.  No previous ballet experience necessary.  All Ages Welcome!

Every Third Wednesday of the month @ 12:00 noon

The Garden club promotes the encouragement and advancement of gardening. Club meetings are held on the Third Wednesday of the month with a specific presentation. Events and activities are scheduled throughout the year.

Gym and Swim is a combination of gymnastics tumbling and use of soft play equipment, then going for a swim in the pool. Participants will start off in the Multi-purpose room learning basic gymnastic skills and techniques, staff will then supervise and lead them to changing rooms, then introduce and teach swimming skills in the pool.

A great way to spend time with you child during this fun packed class. With your guidance, your child is introduced to a relaxed, but structured environment. The goal of this class is to increase your child’s gross motor skills: running, jumping, hopping and throwing.

Ages: 10+

Under 10 must be accompanied by an Adult
Saturdays 12:00-1:30 pm

This class is for kids and families looking for an introduction to some healthier snack options.  Join us in the Westerly YMCA Community Room and kitchen, to cook up some healthy ideas!  Kale chips, mozzarella sticks and more! Limited Space Available.
