NEW! Intro to Jump Rope!

Ages 3rd Grade and up! 

Work your brain and body at the same time, while having fun!  Jumping rope has been found to improve coordination and increase strength in muscles, contributing to a healthy lifstyle.  Particpants in this class will learn jump roping skills and techniques as they engage in individual, partnering, and group activities.  Opportunities for self-monitoring will promote growth and confidence.  This class has a maximum of 12 students so don’t delay in registering!

Special Guest: Schyler Davis, USA Jump Rope National Championships Participant, participant in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and assistant coach of the Pouncing Panthers Jump Rope Team, will be coming to give her advice to the team and also providing a workshop on July 11th.

Must be 45 years or older.  Come join us for some interactive fun down in the Canteen on Thursdays at Noon time till 1:30 PM.  There will be spots to lounge and do some bowling on our New Nintendo Wii U System.

Ages 14+

This class will teach any individual 14 years or older the important elements of photography.  The class will be a comfortable hands-on environment.  A camera or phone is strongly suggested but not mandatory.  The class will be taught by Chad Dexter, Jr.; owner of 86 Studios, who has been doing photography and videography for 9 years .  Learn to use your creativity to its full potential!

Pre-Ballet for Ages 4-6

The goals of this general “pre-ballet” class are to foster creativity, freedom, and expression through movement and movement creating a life-long love of dance.  We will explore movement with wonder and joy, discovering the magic of dance, while gaining confidence and poise every step of the way.

Beginner Ballet for Ages 7-10

Study basic classical ballet positions of the feet and arms and fundamental movements at the barre and then in the center.  In the center, work on more complex movements, jumps and turns as students progress at their own pace.  No previous ballet experience necessary.

Adult Beginner Ballet

In this class, study basic ballet in its very basic form, moving through the fundamentals: barre, center, corner, and simple stretching.  Through ballet technique, lengthen and tone while developing balance, strength and grace.  No previous ballet experience necessary.  All Ages Welcome!

Y GARDEN CLUB

Every Third Wednesday of the month @ 12:00 noon

The Garden club promotes the encouragement and advancement of gardening. Club meetings are held on the Third Wednesday of the month with a specific presentation. Events and activities are scheduled throughout the year.

GYM & SWIM

Ages 4-6   Tuesday 10:15-11:30 am

Gym and Swim is a combination of gymnastics tumbling and use of soft play equipment, then going for a swim in the pool. Participants will start off in the Multi-purpose room learning basic gymnastic skills and techniques, staff will then supervise and lead them to changing rooms, then introduce and teach swimming skills in the pool.

ROMP & STOMP

Ages 18 – 36 months

A great way to spend time with you child during this fun packed class. With your guidance, your child is introduced to a relaxed, but structured environment. The goal of this class is to increase your child’s gross motor skills: running, jumping, hopping and throwing.

New! Healthy Cooking Class!

Ages: 10+

Under 10 must be accompanied by an Adult
Saturdays 12:00-1:30 pm

This class is for kids and families looking for an introduction to some healthier snack options.  Join us in the Westerly YMCA Community Room and kitchen, to cook up some healthy ideas!  Kale chips, mozzarella sticks and more! Limited Space Available.
