WELCOME! NEW HEALTH & WELLNESS DIRECTOR at Mystic

It gives us great pleasure to announce that Catherine “Kate” Spina has been hired as the Health & Wellness Director at the Mystic Branch.  Kate will focus on growing and developing our youth & teen wellness, Spinning & Group Exercise and adult, family and senior wellness programs.  She will also develop new Healthy Living initiatives and lead our signature special events, like Tarzan Brown, Triathlon and Turkey Trot.

Kate has several years of progressive experience in the Health & Wellness field, including over three years in our Y organization.  Kate also has a degree in Recreation.   Her passion for healthy living and working with all ages to meet members personal wellness goals are tremendous assets and will serve her well in this new role.  Please join us in congratulating Kate and welcoming her into her new leadership role with the Mystic Branch and Ocean Community

This 2-day workshop includes: Demonstrations and practical application of one-on-one training. NETA’s expert trainer will cover exercise science review, communication skills, exercise programming, health assessments and more.

Workshop registration includes, written exam and 2-year certificate. NETA’s Personal Trainer Certification is accredited by NCCA, the “gold standard” in our industry.

Welcome NEW Rink & Assistant Camp Director

It gives us great pleasure to announce that Tricia Boucher has been hired as the Rink & Assistant Camp Director for the Ocean Community YMCA.  Tricia will focus on the continued development and programing of the Ice Rink through the fall and winter, and assist with Camp Watchaug through the spring and summer.

Tricia has grown with us through several roles including the welcome center, teaching sports & enrichment classes, skating lessons, and more recently as the Administrative Assistant at the ice rink. She starts her new position on Monday, October 20th.

Welcome NEW Health & Wellness Director

It gives us great pleasure to announce that Tim Lebling has been hired as the Health & Wellness Director for the Westerly-Pawcatuck Branch.  Tim will focus on the continued development and programming of the wellness classes, staff, and special events.

Tim has been with us part time for over a year in the Health & Wellness Department. Through that time he has built himself a great reputation with our members and staff by being very engaging and teaching youth wellness classes. Tim also stepped up and took the lead with planning the 2014 OCY TRI and as the acting race director.

22ND ANNUAL TURKEY TROT AND DIP

When:  Thursday, November 27th
Time:  Check-In 8:00 am • Start Time 8:30 am
Where:  Mystic Branch
Registration:  $15 for pre-registration; $20 day of race

Start your Thanksgiving Day the best way possible, being thankful for your health, being surrounded by family and friends and by burning some calories during your one or three-mile “trot” followed by an optional “dip” in the Mystic River. TEEN NIGHTS at Mystic

Ages: 13 – 17

Join us for food, fun and friends at the Mystic Branch this fall! Teen Night will be held on the 3rd Friday of the month. Play basketball in the gym, participate in a spinning class, go for a swim, or play games in the Crafts Room. Teen Night will be supervised by Y staff in each room.

Members FREE        Program Participants $5
