The Ocean Community YMCA is dedicated to making a positive impact in people’s lives through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. At the Y, no child, family or adult is ever turned away due to their inability to pay. Our annual Reach Out To Youth campaign raises funds to ensure memberships are available to all who wish to participate. Y programs provide learning and life-enhancing experiences that build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.

When you give to the Y, your gift will have a meaningful, enduring impact right in your own neighborhood. 100% of your gift goes directly to work in many ways:

  • $90 A preschooler can learn critical skills in a session of swim lessons.
$200 A child can receive a full year youth membership and develop skills to do better in school.
$460 A child can gain confidence and make lasting memories in two weeks at summer day camp.
  • $700 A child can receive one month of before and after school programs, offering their parent or guardian peace of mind.
$1,680 A family can “join the Y” for two years and spend quality time together.
$2,500 35 children can learn the value of teamwork and participate in a youth basketball program.
$5,000 10 high school students can build leadership skills and self-esteem in the Leader’s School Program.

Leaving a Legacy

One of the most enduring gifts is a legacy gift. A planned gift provides long-lasting impact in the community and helps to ensure a bright future for the Ocean Community YMCA. Individuals and families who include the Y in their estate plans are provided membership in the Heritage Club.

Toni’s Kids

WE BELIEVE in inclusion, that everyone, no matter their ability, should have every opportunity to take part in YMCA recreational programs and activities. BY GIVING, you are a part of this pledge to Toni’s Kids and the community.

At the Ocean Community YMCA we pledge to be here when families need us most. For individuals with disabilities and their families that means we will help identify the proper accommodations and/or supports necessary so that every individual has the opportunity to participate in Y programs and activities.
To facilitate inclusion, an Integration Coordinator is located at the Westerly-Pawcatuck branch conducting personalized assessments and offering suggestions for individualized accommodations, as well as providing training to our programming staff about disabilities and inclusion techniques.
Recreation programs have a number of characteristics that make them ideal places for individuals with disabilities to experience social inclusion and friendship building. In addition, by participating in an inclusive environment, children and staff without disabilities learn more about tolerance, acceptance and what it means to have a disability.
