Program options
Let your child explore the world of art with this interactive program that will focus on different mixed media techniques with projects they can take home.
This is a creative movement class that allows students to explore their inner dancer. Students will be given exercises on developing safe alignment while strengthening skills in a group setting. Classes range from 30 to 60 minutes.
Let your children explore their world in our pre-school and youth STEM programs! Each class will explore a different age-appropriate topic through hands-on group projects, books, art, and science. Topics will vary based on the season and the interest of the children.
Let your child engage in fun sensory friendly activities in a new way. This includes touch, smell, sight, movement, and balance. Within a small group setting, this program is geared towards individuals with diverse emotional, developmental, and intellectual disabilities.
We offer youth dance classes in Ballet, Jazz, and Tap for ages 4-7, providing a fun and engaging environment for young dancers of all skill levels. Our programs focus on technique, creativity, and confidence-building, led by experienced instructors. Join us to explore the joy of movement and self-expression!
Lego Club is an enjoyable peer activity that simulates and develops spatial intelligence it teaches participants teamwork, problem solving, and enhances creativity. Let’s let our imaginations run wild and build together., work as a team, utilize a growth mindset, while building confidence and self-awareness.
Come and take part in our two class workshop to develop the skills needed to be safe, responsible and successful babysitters. At the completion of class, students will receive American Red Cross Certified Babysitter Certificates which will include Pediatric First Aid and CPR. Other topics include: leadership styles, starting a business, decision making, childcare, and handling an emergency situation.

Garden Club promotes the encouragement and advancement of gardening. Club meetings are held on the Third Wednesday of the month with a specific presentation. Events and activities are scheduled throughout the year.
In these classes you will learn or continue to development tap techniques with a focus on speed, transitions, and style. For the Intermediate class, students should be comfortable with basic tap vocabulary including cramp rolls, riffs, irishes, draw backs, waltz clogs, maxi fords, and time steps. Instructor permission required to register for the Advanced class.
Gather with fellow book lovers to dive into thought provoking reads that inspire and engage. Each session, we’ll discuss a selected book, enjoy lively conversations, and share insights.
Join us for an art class open to adults of all ages! Reduce boredom and anxiety and increase your creativity and self-esteem. Each week we will work on a new project. Available for Beginner and Intermediate levels.
This course is designed to teach you to recognize signs and symptoms of heart attacks and other emergencies and respond to them appropriately. Includes certification for adults, children and infants. BLENDED COURSE: Certification is good for two years. Online component followed by in person skills section.
Lifeguard Requirements: Must be 15 years old before the course begins; Must be able to swim 300 yard without stopping; Must be physically able to make rescues in water.
Participants will become certified as Red Cross Lifeguards as well as First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Certification is FREE with your commitment to work at the YMCA.

Sandy is a retired airline captain, a pilot for Fly the Whale, a certified flight instructor and a world record holding skydiver. She’s also been a fitness professional for 35 years, having taught every imaginable fitness class at various YMCAs in Florida and Westerly.
YMCA Group Exercise Instructor; IFTA-Fitness Certified Personal Trainer; CPR certified, and of course just about every flying license known to the FAA.
Due to numerous (but always interesting) injuries in her aviation career, experience as a personal trainer and fitness instructor and also many years of physical therapy, Sandy has a deep understanding of how to reach fitness goals while working with each client’s specific needs. She is also patient and easy to get along with.
Jasmine began training as a Fitness Specialist in 1983, gaining 40 years of experience. She has created diverse programs using equipment like weights, bands, machines, and paddle boards. She enjoys focusing on exploring the science of recovery and practical modality instruction.

Maryann, a longtime YMCA member from Ledyard, CT, has a lifelong passion for health and fitness, starting with high school sports and long-distance running. She now focuses on helping others improve mobility, strength, and balance through foundational fitness, and is committed to continuous learning and growth.
