Group Exercise Instructors

Will provide members with exciting, safe & productive SPIN®classes. Classes are varied in scope.  High School diploma and previous experience as a SPINNING® Instructor or in a Group Exercise setting with relevant certification to teach the appropriate class. MYSTIC BRANCH

Lifeguards
Under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Director, the Lifeguard will work on-deck for open swim, laps and Aquatic programs while instructor is teaching.  AED, CPR, First Aid, lifeguarding, Emergency Oxygen certs required.  Will also be responsible for water front guarding to include guarding camp children, guarding and instructing boating/canoeing and sculling.  Part Time, various days and shifts.  Mystic, Kristin Spirdione  kspirdione@oceancommunityymca.org

Welcome Center
All shifts available. Must greet ad interact with members in a harmonious manner.  Must answer the phone and handle monetary transactions accurately.  Must have computer skills and be able to multitask.  May be offered the opportunity to work as a building supervisor when needed.  Part Time, Mystic, Josh Posey jposey@oceancommunityymca.org

Maintenance Staff
Responsible for general facility custodial and maintenance duties including cleaning women’s locker room.

Responsible for educating members on the proper use of equipment and exercise techniques, maintaining a safe and clean environment as well as explaining the rules of the facility.  Candidates should have experience in the health and fitness filed. Building Supervisor
Responsible for top quality member service and responsibility for the security of the building.  When necessary, may be offered the opportunity to work as a Welcome Center staff member. Will provide a training plan for each personal training client to help each person meet their fitness goals.  Personal training Certification a must and previous personal training experience desired.

Teen Center Staff
The Teen Center Staff is responsible for top quality member service with complete knowledge of the Y mission, programs, and operations. The focus is working with youths attending the Teen Center. Principal Activities include: enforcing the YMCA and Teen Center Rules, monitor all activities in the Teen Center and addressing concerns as they arise, engaging with teens in a positive manner, ensuring the safety of the teens at all times, maintaining the Teen Center by keeping it tidy and clean, proficiently represent the Y within the community. This position requires a minimum of a High School diploma or related experience. Gym Supervisor 

Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, the Gym Supervisor is in charge of overseeing the activities in the gym including but not limited to open gym and basketball. Must be well-spoken and display self-confidence and a professional attitude. Candidates must have 1 to 2 years of sports and skills development. Must possess a working knowledge of developmental and physical abilities, and have confidence to enforce the rules in the gym. This is a part time position with options of variable hours and days including weekdays, evenings and weekends. Single membership to the Y is available to all part time employees at no cost. WESTERLY-PAWCATUCK BRANCH

Race 4 Chase Youth Triathlon Coach

Race 4 Chase Program Coach will work with a group of children and train them to run their first triathlon. Hours are 8AM – 12PM, M-F, for six weeks this summer. The Race 4 Chase Coach plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA core values, and adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness. This is a triathlon training program, and the coach must be able to actively run, jump, and lift a minimum of 1/3 their own body weight, must be able to swim, and must be able to ride a bike. Aquatics Director

The Aquatics Director oversees the operation of the Aquatics Department which includes promoting and delivering quality programs, hiring and supervision of staff, budget development/management, and maintaining a clean and safe pool environment.  In addition, the Aquatics Director has overall management of the Swim Team and Swim Team parents’ organization as a principle activity. Must have a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 3 years of experience in the aquatics field and in supervision or 7 years experience with increasing responsibilities. Maintain certifications in Lifeguard, CPR, AED, First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, Lifeguard Instruction, CPO or POOL. Full Time, Westerly bpinchuck@oceancommunityymca.org

Gymnastics Team Head Coach
Lead Coach for the Association gymnastics program. Responsible for coordinating classes, working and training coaches, and organizing participation competitions. Also responsible for ensuring the children’s social, physical, emotional, and mental development in our program.  Must have extensive coaching and teaching experience. Child Watch

Our ChildWatch staff is responsible for top quality member and childcare service with a complete knowledge of the YMCA mission, character counts, programs and operations. ChildWatch staff must interact with members in a harmonious manner. Applicants must be at least 16 years old and have at least 1 year of experience working with school-age children. The right candidate will have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive toward the feelings and needs of others, and be able to relate well to young children, be mature, responsible and organized. Group Exercise Instructors – Silver Sneakers Class
Under the supervision of the Health & Wellness Director this will be an instructor for the boomers and above.  Teaching exercise to the aging population.  Candidates need to be certified in CPR and a Tivity-approved fitness credential, which include a current professional health or fitness license, or nationally recognized fitness instructor/trainer certification.  Also need to complete training workshop specific to the class format being offered.
