Pickleball FAQ's

Pickleball FAQ's

Pickleball, a hybrid of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, was invented in 1965 on Bainbridge Island, Washington, by Congressman Joel Pritchard and his friend Bill Bell. It started as a backyard game and quickly gained popularity. Today, pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports worldwide.

Players serve diagonally, with the serving team scoring points only. The ball must bounce once on each side before volleys are allowed, and games are typically played to 11 points, with a win by two margin.

Playing Pickleball at the Y offers numerous advantages that make it an ideal choice for enthusiasts of all levels. Beyond providing well-maintained courts and quality equipment, the Y fosters a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages community engagement and social interaction. Whether you’re a beginner honing your skills or a seasoned player seeking competitive matches, the Y offers diverse programming and opportunities for growth.
