Dear Donors, Members, and Friends of the Ocean Community YMCA,
As we step into 2026, we do so with deep gratitude for all we have accomplished together over the past year. Your generosity, commitment, and belief in the Y’s mission continue to strengthen our community and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to belong.
This past year marked an exciting new chapter for our YMCA as we fully embraced our first six months under the leadership of our President and CEO, Sheila Litty. With her guidance, we have continued to build on a strong foundation while expanding our reach and deepening our impact across all of our communities.
Because of you, more individuals and families than ever before were able to access the Y. In 2025 alone, more than 5,000 individuals received financial assistance, a powerful reminder that your support is not just meaningful, it is essential. From life-changing summer camp experiences to wellness programs, youth development, and inclusive offerings like Adaptive Pickleball, your generosity is creating real and lasting impact.
As Chief Volunteer Officer, I am continually inspired by the passion and dedication of our volunteers, donors, and staff. This work is only possible because of you. Together, we are not only meeting the needs of today, but building a stronger, healthier, and more connected community for the future.
This year’s annual report reflects the continued progress of our 2023–2028 strategic plan and the many ways we are growing to serve our region. We remain committed to ensuring that the Y is a place where everyone belongs, regardless of their circumstances.
As we look ahead, we are energized by the opportunities before us and confident in what we can accomplish together.
To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
To be recognized as the leading charitable organization which directly engages and connects children, adults, and families from all segments of our community in developing habits that lead to healthier and more fulfilling lifestyles.
In order to serve more people and expand the YMCA’s presence, we will enhance partnerships to support our strategic direction of facility and program expansion in meeting community needs.
With a promise to serve more individuals our YMCA will grow membership and expand programs through focused strategies, enhancing staff and strong relationship development
Through Philanthropy and Fiscal Management, the YMCA will commit to a deliberate focus on fund development thereby ensuring financial stability and greater impact. To build resilience and sustainability of our Facilities, we will improve energy efficiency.
To achieve our overall organizational initiatives, we will sustain and strengthen our board governance and recruit, develop, and retain staff and volunteers.
In 2025, our two day camps—Camp Cove and Camp Watchaug—continued their strong momentum, welcoming more campers and expanding access to meaningful summer experiences.
his year, we saw an increase in program participation. By listening to our community and adapting our offerings, we strive to ensure everyone feels welcome.
Formal swim lessons play a critical role in water safety, significantly reducing the risk of drowning for young children and reinforcing our commitment to building confidence in and around the water.
RI Silent Camp began as an idea from a former YMCA camper who saw a need for greater connection between Deaf and hearing communities. With the support of the YMCA, it has grown into a 25-year tradition at Camp Watchaug, where participants come together for a fully immersive American Sign Language experience. Through this program, barriers are broken down and understanding is built. As one leader shared, “We use Silent Camp to break down the barriers of communication… turning curiosity into understanding.”
Our YMCA community grew by nearly 10% this year, welcoming even more members into spaces centered on belonging, wellness, connection, and support.
Through our YCares financial assistance program, 1 in 5 members relied on support to access Y programs and services. Ensuring everyone in our community could belong, thrive, and grow.
This year, over 150 dedicated volunteers rallied behind our Annual Support Campaign, helping to raise essential funds that power the Y’s mission and ensure access for all.
Krystal Patton shared how much the YMCA’s Adaptive Pickleball program has meant to her, giving her a place to stay active, build confidence, and feel supported. With the encouragement of her instructor and the support of her family, she has embraced the game with determination and joy, forming friendships and creating lasting memories along the way. As she shared, “I keep trying even when I fail… I love playing Pickleball, and it makes me happy,” a powerful reminder of the impact of inclusive programs and the strength of community.
This year, the Ocean Community YMCA was proud to be the beneficiary of the Black & White Ball at the Ocean House. With more than 500 guests in attendance, the evening was a powerful celebration of community, generosity, and shared purpose.
Through the incredible support of attendees and sponsors, the event raised meaningful funds to support the Cove Cottage project.
In the fall of 2025, we unveiled our latest project, Cove Cottage. Named in memory of Candace Sanford, this space allows us to expand Camp Cove at the Naik Family Branch in 2026.
Adaptive Pickleball is a growing part of our Y, bringing people of all abilities together through movement, connection, and fun. Now offered at both Naik Family and Westerly-Pawcatuck Branches, the program continues to expand with each clinic.
Each year, the Ocean Community YMCA honors community leaders and organizations whose dedication and support strengthen our work and expand our impact.
In 2025, we proudly honored:

“At age 81, after difficult diagnoses in 2025, I made a commitment to rebuild my health at the Arcadia YMCA through exercise, nutrition, and daily dedication. In just six weeks, my strength and balance returned, my health improved, and I began sleeping better, socializing more, and rediscovering confidence and joy. It’s never too late to begin—I’m proof.”

“I’m relatively new to the area and semi-retired. The Y has given me ample opportunity to make new friends in addition to staying fit. I’m in better shape now than I have been in decades, and I very much value the sense of belonging I enjoy here. It’s a top-notch place, well-run and very welcoming.”
