OUR STAFF

A team of seasonal summer staff as well as full-time YMCA directors lead the YMCA Mystic Day Camp programs.  Our Summer staff is selected for their strong character, maturity, enthusiasm and commitment to our Y values as well as their ability to be a positive influence in our camper’s lives.  We provide extensive staff training, drills and preparation, which include child abuse prevention, criminal background checks, CPR/AED and First Aid certification behavioral management, team building and social facilitation.  Our staff aims to encourage group participation and cooperation, building self-confidence and self-esteem and to give each camper an opportunity to develop interests in a variety of program areas.  With our strong camper and staff return rate, we are excited to continue our traditions and offer new challenges.

 

Emily King Herbette, Camp Director

Emily King Herbette has worked for the YMCA since 2000. She has worked as a day camp counselor at Champaign Family YMCA in Urbana, OH and as a Village Director and Director of Conferences and Retreats at YMCA Camp Kern in Ohio.  She then moved to Massachusetts where she was the Senior Program Director at Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA for 10 years.  In January 2012, she joined the Ocean Community YMCA as the Healthy Living and Youth Development Director.
